Aim of the South China Sea Project Training Programme

The overall goals of the UNEP/GEF project entitled “Reversing Environmental Degradation Trends in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand” are defined in the project document as:
17.  The overall goals of the project are: to create an environment at the regional level, in which collaboration and partnership in addressing environmental problems of the South China Sea, between all stakeholders, and at all levels is fostered and encouraged; and to enhance the capacity of the participating governments to integrate environmental considerations into national development planning.
In this connection, the aim of the South China Sea Project Training Programme is to:
build capacity within the South China Sea Project Partner Network to effect the training required to elaborate and agree the Regional Strategic Action Programme, and to guide the longer-term sustainability of South China Sea Project interventions for reversing environmental degradation trends in the South China Sea and Gulf of Thailand.
