Training Course on Establishing and Managing Fisheries Refugia
The Regional Scientific and Technical Committee recommended that a Training Course on Establishing and Managing Fisheries Refugia be held as part of the South China Sea Training Programme. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Desired Content The Desired Content for this Course includes: - Similarities and differences between the concept of fisheries refugia and Marine Protected Area's,
- Use of fisheries management zones as fisheries refugia
- Identifying natural refugia and suitable sites for fisheries refugia, and
- Managing fisheries refugia in the context of the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries and Regional Guidelines for Responsible Fisheries in Southeast Asia.
