Nomination of Participants for the South China Sea Regional Training Courses

The seventh meeting of the RSTC advised that nominations should be forwarded to the PCU through the project’s National Technical Focal Points (NTFPs). It was agreed that the NTFPs would send names, contact details, and a brief Curriculum Vitae for each nominee to the Project Co-ordinating Unit.

It was anticipated that this information would be disseminated throughout the South China Sea Project network following the RSTC meeting, and to assist in this regard the Project Co-ordinating Unit wrote to each member of the South China Sea Project network on 1st December 2006 advising them to forward nominations to their NTFP.

An important consideration in the nomination of individuals is that participants in the regional training courses and workshops are required to convene 1-2 day national “echo” seminars within one month of the completion of the regional courses. As such, nominees should have well developed English language skills and be able to organise and deliver national seminars.

The cost of travel, accommodation, and meals will be met via the GEF project grant for each participant in the regional training courses. The RSTC has identified demonstration site managers and associated staff, community leaders at the demonstration sites, staff of the Specialised Executing Agencies, and members of the national committees (excluding Chairs) as eligible participants in the regional training events. It is also possible for members of the South China Sea network to nominate individuals from outside the network should these individuals have a demonstrable need for such training.

It is anticipated that each regional training course will have 3, at most 4, participants per country. In this connection, it would be appreciated if you could forward information for 3-4 nominees for each training course to the PCU by COB on Friday 23rd February 2007. The following information for each nominee should be included in your submission:

  • Full name
  • Position of employment (including name of organisation)
  • Mailing address
  • Telephone number
  • Facsimile number
  • E-mail address
  • Educational background
  • Professional background

Members of the South China Sea Project network are requested to send nominations to their respective NTFP so that they can be forwarded to the PCU by the nomination submission deadline of COB Friday 23rd February 2007.
