Training Course on Mechanisms for Sustainable Production/Use of WetlandsThe Regional Scientific and Technical Committee recommended that a Training Course on Mechanisms for Sustainable Production/Use of Wetlands be held as part of the South China Sea Training Programme. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Desired Content The Desired Content for this Course includes: - guidelines for resources assessment and monitoring (including community-based biodiversity monitoring),
- carbon and nutrient sequestration,
- economic valuation of resources,
- sustainable production,
- incentive mechanisms,
- restoration techniques,
- silvo-fisheries, and
- IEC initiatives (print, radio, and TV).

2 weeks (October 2007) Duration of National Seminars 2-3 days (November 2007 - February 2008) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reports of the Regional Working Groups The Regional Working Groups on Wetlands and Mangroves have recently considered and commented on the desired content for this training course. They also commented on potential participants, possible implementing entities, and how materials prepared by the group can be used as resource materials in this training course. Proponents are encouraged to review the reports of the recent meetings of these working groups:
